Art Expeditions
Takes experiential education to the next level. At this time, we have only completed one Art Expedition to Maui, HI. An Art Expedition is a longer trip that includes an overnight stay.
Specifically, the Maui Expedition was five days long and inlcuded a variety of activities. We stayed in the Maui Prince Hotel. Art Adventures teamed with professional companies to provide opportunities to hike, sail, snorkel, scuba dive, surf and golf. Throughout the Expedition, students carried cameras, sketchbooks and art supplies to carious destinations around the Island.
We explored historical sites and diverse terrain like petrified lava, a rain forest, a dormant volcano, city streets, and of course, the beach!
As with the Art Excursions, we often took breaks from our travels to give specialized instruction, create an in depth piece of art or explain a specific photography technique. Art Excursions allows students to be immersed in an environment verses an Art Excursion that offers only a brief encounter with a new experience. Immersing students into an environment for an extended time helps students further embrace the cultural diversities, natural surroundings and emotional impact of an area. Simultaneously, participants are learning about art, culture, nature and expanding their social conscious. This rich experience leaves students with grand memories both personal and visual.
Art Excursions and Art Expeditions free students from the confines of the classroom, which helps them connect to their artwork. For many participants, these activities are new to them and become instant confidence builders. Socially, it helps students identify with a wider range of peers. As a result, Excursions and Expeditions helpt them to grow into well-rounded individuals. Bonds are often formed between students and new friendships kindled. This new perspective on art sparks ideas for career paths and fosters positive thinking.
Both Art Excursions and Art Adventures are carefully planned and accompanied by a team of professionals to promote excellence in art, experiential education and safety.
This unique way of combining art with adventure promotes forward thinking, creativity and mental balance. Our ideas for future trips include canoeing, camping snow shoeing, orienteering and nature exploration.
