Summer Camp FAQs
How do I browse the Camp Schedule and/or register?
Click here to browse the Summer Camp schedule and/or register for Summer Camps.
Can I register for more than one weekly session?
Yes! EVERY class is unique, so students who repeat the same class will bring a completely different project home each time! Whoohoo!
Where are you located?
Our primary studio located less than a quarter mile from Chesterfield Towne Center. The address is 825 Grove Rd. Midlothian, VA 23114. Grove road is between the Dodge Dealership and Puritan Cleaners on Midlothian Tpk. near the intersection of Courthouse and Huguenot Rd.
PLEASE do not send mail to this address. There is no mail receptacle at the studio.
Summer Camps are at the Midlothian Studio only. The Chester Studio is only for the Fall/Spring sessions.
What class times and dates are available for my child?
Summer camps run Monday through Thursday during July and August. The Summer Brochure is usually posted in March.
How much do the camps cost?
The fee for each camp varies. Check the Summer Brochure for the schedule, fees and class descriptions.
How many students are in a camp?
There are about 12 students in a class. Small classes ensure an intimate setting and high quality instruction.
Can my son/daughter be in a camp with their brother/sister even though they are not in the same grade?
Yes. Summer camps are designed so students of all ages can be grouped together. Instructors tailor instruction to suit each student’s ability.
What supplies will my child need?
Supplies are included in most summer camps. Any additional supplies are listed with the camp descriptions and fee information.
What should my child wear?
Although we provide cotton smocks, we do suggest students dress in casual play clothes.
Are your camps only for “talented students”?
Oh, no! We believe EVERYONE can make great Art! We invite students of all ages to participate in our camps. We focus on self confidence and use positive reinforcement to ensure every student has a wonderful experience at Art Adventures.
If my child is gifted in art, will he/she be challenged in your camps?
Absolutely. We work with many advanced students to sharpen their skills, teach upper level techniques and expand their creativity.
What if I need to cancel or transfer a summer registration?
Summer camps are non-refundable. However, if space is available, we will be happy to transfer a student to another camp that better suits your schedule. (A transfer fee may apply.) Please contact us with these requests via phone or email.
What if my child misses one day from a multi-day camp?
We will do our best to ensure your student has enough time to finish their Art project. Please contact us via email or phone to discuss the specifics of your situation.
What if a class is full? Is there a waiting list?
If you would like to be placed on a waiting list, you must do so by phone or email. Waiting lists are built on a first come basis.
What if my child is attending several camps in a row and needs a snack?
Students attending two or more camps may bring a small snack to eat between camps. PLEASE pack only DRY snacks and a drink with a screw-on cap.
Does the student need prior art experience to attend summer classes?
No. We teach all of our students one to one. The only requirement is to have fun!
Are students grouped by age/grade in the summer camps?
No. Because we teach one to one, we are able to place students of various ages in the same class. We try our best to keep similar ages together.
Are there any classes with a minimum age requirement?
Yes. Students in the Pre K / K camps must be at least 4 years old. Students who will be in Pre-K next year (or younger) can ONLY take the Pre-K / K camps. Students must be rising to kindergarten or older to participate in the other camps.
My child is older than Kindergarten, but wants to be in the Pre-K / K camp with a younger friend/sibbling. Is that OK?
Certainly. Older students may join the Pre K / K camps, but the projects will be taught at the Pre-K / K level.
Other than the class and supply fees are there any other costs involved?
No.
Can I register for more than one class during a week?
Yes!
Are there any discounts for signing up more than one student?
Not in the summer. However, in the fall, there is a $45 discount for registering more than one child.
