Students will learn the tricks and techniques of a professional portrait photographer. Students will experiment with professional equipment and print in the darkroom. Upon arrival, students will be provided water proof cameras, to record their trip. A professional photographer will be on site to give photography tips and record the adventure. This Art Adventure has frequent sightings of bald eagles, blue herons and osprey. Then, students will experience a view of the river and its riparian forest as they climb up into the tree canopy. We'll meet at the Huguenot Flat Water parking area by the Huguenot Bridge and float to the Z Dam. We will portage around the dam using the Williams Island portage trail, hop back in the tubes and continue to The Meadow located near the Pony Pasture area. We'll take out at The Meadow where we'll stretch our legs, have lunch, create art in our sketch pads, and transition into Guided Tree Climbing. The stately White Oaks along the river will be outfitted with a safe climbing system including ropes and harnesses. After a fun filled day of art and adventure, participants will be picked up at The Meadow. Supplies: Art supplies, camera and lunch are included. Directions and specific instructions regarding dress and weather will be provided upon registration. (Participants MUST be at least 8 years old and know how to swim) Art Excursion: White Water Rafting $85 Supplies: Art supplies, camera and lunch are included. Beginning Photography $85
For students going into the 6th grade and up. Take your own black and white pictures, learn how to develop film and create your own black and white photographs in the darkroom! Learn about pinhole AND 35mm photography! Supplies: $10 lab fee (includes chemicals, film and 5 sheets of photo paper) Students need to bring a 35 mm camera to the first class… Nothing fancy needed. An automatic, semi automatic or manual 35mm camera will be fine. No Advantix or Digital cameras. The camera should be empty of film on the first day. Please include the camera’s manual if you can. Use hand building techniques to create your own ceramic sculpture! No two pieces will be alike. The first week will be designing and building your piece. During the break, your clay will dry naturally and be fired. The second week you will return to glaze your piece for the final firing.
